The McBride Group is a fee-only investment advisory firm, with various consulting services. The company also has long history in television and radio and provides video production services to a wide range of companies. Since 2009, our headquarters are in the Marina Office Complex in Petaluma, California.

Jim McBride is the founder of The McBride Group, LLC. The firm was established in 2009. Jim worked at Merrill Lynch for eighteen years prior to starting his own firm. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Jim was the western United States Vice President/Sales for Citicorp’s Global Payment Products Division. Before Citicorp, Jim worked for Visa International. He was responsible for US and international sales and implementation of the Visa Security Module, a network data encryption device. The Security Module was critical to the implementation and worldwide expansion of the Visa ATM Newtork.
Lisa Bennett is the Business Manager for The McBride Group. She attended San Francisco State University and earned a BS in Office Systems/Accounting. She is responsible for providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service. She also oversees all administrative functions including billing, accounting, record keeping and reporting. Before joining The McBride Group, Lisa worked for 25 years in the car rental industry. There, she had the opportunity to gain experience in a lot of different areas. From Financial Analyst to Fleet Accounting Manager to Bay Area Reservation Center Manager to Northern California Fleet Manager.
Norman Graham is the Vice President, Investments at The McBride Group. Norm has worked in the financial industry since 1985 as a Financial Advisor. After starting at Merrill Lynch, he took on increasing responsibilities and gained valuable experience at Lehman Brothers, Bear, Stearns and RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). Norm brings to The McBride Group a proven record of outstanding accomplishments in client acquisition, retention and investment management.
Betty Nakamoto provides Compliance and Operations consulting services to The McBride Group. She has 25+ years of experience in the Investment Management, Brokerage and Banking industries. Her business expertise ranges from operations management to business startups, to office automation to business process design. She attended the University of California.
Alyse Jackson, Client Services. Alyse graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Kinesiology. Her background in accounting and finance (AP/AR/bookkeeping) alongside her passion for guiding and assisting others to reach and meet their goals is a well match for The McBride Group and our Client Services Department.
Karen was born and raised in Novato, California. After graduating from Carroll College in Helena, MT, with a degree in education, she returned to northern California. Karen taught Kindergarten and Middle School Special Education Resource in the public schools for 7 years. Karen lives with her cat, Timmy, in the town of Sonoma. In her spare time Karen enjoys decorating, the beach, walking, hiking and working out.
Frank Aguilar, Client Services. Frank graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cinematography and Film/Video Production. Previously, Frank worked in events and hospitality, which live and breathe organization and a service-first mentality. Frank believes every client interaction is an opportunity for a positive experience.
Hetal Shah is the Administrative Assistant for The McBride Group. She is responsible for helping Lisa with all administrative duties. Hetal holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She worked for 5 years as an Administrative Assistant for an insurance broker where she was responsible for managing the flexible spending plan for all the major Santa Rosa City Schools. Prior to that, she worked at a major department store as a Customer Service Associate. When she is not working, she enjoys volunteering at school, oil painting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Alan is our videographer and editor of the Monthly Market Update. Alan is an award winning Director of Photography who has worked in the Television and Video Production Industry for the last 26 years. His work includes countless television shows, corporate videos, web videos and multi-cam productions. He has shot for Discovery Channel, ESPN, NBC Sports, Animal Planet, Pixar, and ILM. Alan has also worked with Google, LinkedIn and Safeway. His videos have aired locally, and internationally on NHK in Japan, and RTL in Germany. As an editor, he prides himself on telling stories with his creative and compelling videos. From professional lighting to unique angles and natural sound, Alan strives to immerse the viewer in the story and experience it first hand.
Bryn Howlett is our Webmaster. Bryn has been building websites for 5+ years and has worked on every type of web related project, from small mom and pop shops, to large high profile companies. In particular, the strong relationships he builds with clients, team members, upper management, and the community has resulted in significant increases in respect within the local business community here in the Bay Area.
Mike McBride handles sales activities for The McBride Group on the US East Coast from our regional office in Richmond, Virginia. Mike earned two undergraduate degrees from Sonoma State University in California and an MBA in international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. Prior to joining The McBride Group, Mike spent over 30 years in Sales and Marketing, mostly working in the field of applied, highly specialized optics and thin film coatings.
John Burgess head up Sales and Marketing from our regional office in Phoenix, Arizona. John is responsible for business development in southern California and the southwestern United States. John began his media career 1975 in the Santa Rosa, California radio market as a reporter for KSRO 1350. Over the course of the next 36 years John worked in the San Francisco, Seattle and Palm Springs radio and television markets holding positions including Managing Editor, News Director, Station Manager and Vice President/General Manager. As a senior level manager for The Ackerley Group, Clear Channel Television and Newport Television he was responsible for the day-day operations of San Francisco DMA television station KFTY TV50.
Carmen Cheung has a broad and impressive digital media background. In the past 10 years, Carmen has founded her own media company, produced a documentary, and worked closely with advertising agencies producing short business profile videos and commercials for small businesses. Carmen also works extensively with nonprofit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work with nonprofits ranges from long format television programs, PSAs (Public Service Announcements), educational programs, interview shorts and various special programs.
Alex W Evans
Alex W Evans is an American filmmaker, content creator and The McBride Group’s lead eastern United States videographer. His first independent short film as a writer/director, “Tourtilla” featuring Chris Reed of FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” was an official selection of the 2014 Independent Filmmaker’s Showcase. Evans worked as Associate Producer in the Antarctic for Animal Planet’s Emmy Nominated series “Whale Wars” documenting the conflict between Environmental Activists and Poachers. Evans also was a contributing cinematographer for “Live and Let Live” a documentary about human relationships with animals.
Sean is both a videographer and an editor for the McBride Group. Sean has worked for BBC News and BBC Click. Both of these projected involved both shooting and editing reports on new product demos, startup, and exploring new technology culture. Sean has also worked in the San Francisco bay area for Comcast Sport Net (NBC Sports) and CBS affiliate KPIX.
Chris Bollini, Videographer and editor. Chris started his working career at Marin 26. He worked at KFTY TV50 as a producer, videographer and editor. Chris was the chief photographer for the KPIX CBS program “Eye On The Bay” in San Francisco. Chris also does movie reviews every Friday for KSRO 1350AM.
Ana M Amortegui
Ana M Amortegui was born in Medellin, Colombia; obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering being at the same time a professional dancer. She became sidetracked as she worked as a choreographer on television programs in Colombia. She discovered filmmaking during her days on sets by forming bonds with the people behind the cameras. Ana brings an amazing talent as well as a unique approach to this already talented group of individuals. Ana has the passion, tact, determination and hard work ethic, and she wants to do as much as possible, whatever she can, to be successful in her profession.
Branson, has worked as a videographer for over 15 years. He has worked at CBS affiliate KPIX in San Francisco as News shooter as well as working on the Emmy award winning series “Eye On The Bay”. Branson has also worked for CNET, Sports Channel Pacific.
David Petry, Videographer. Our expertise in video production is second to none. David is our lead producer, videographer and graphic artist. He has more than 20 years experience in the field including his work on Hollywood projects such as Hell Boy, Spiderman, and Star Trek. Some of his local projects include St. Francis Winery, Platinum Chevrolet, Regus International, United Way and Queen of the Valley Hospital.
Shane Calvert, Shane has a long history of video production which includes being the lead video producer for all of The McBride Group, LLC websites. In addition, he was producer, editor, and creative services coordinator at KFTY TV50. Currently, Shane is a producer, videographer and editor at KOFY Channel 13 in San Francisco.
Andrew Kass brings to our video projects an expertise in aerial phototgraphy. Working with drones, Andrew’s work continues to enhance our videos and “wow” our clients. A recent example of Andrew’s work is in our Jacobson & Breen video.
